Bronia Sawyer sculptures are quiLLing, not quiLTing

Bronia Sawyer makes sculptures out of books. After finding the work of Thomas Allen, we wondered what other types of art could be made out of books? Well, evidently more & more artists are using books as their medium. Sawyer’s work really caught our eye because the end result is not very book-esque. “It’s like an abstract form of writing, using images, colours, and shapes in the way a writer uses words, or a musician uses notes, chords, and volume to do a similar thing,” she says. One of the techniques Sawyer utilizes is called quilling and we included a how-to video at the bottom. Even if you’re not into the whole arts & crafts scene, check it out – we got a real kick out of HGTV’s editing style and Ann Martin’s down-home delivery. Here’s Bronia Sawyer’s website.
